Why Exfoliate?
The average human generates a new layer of skin every two to
four weeks and you can improve your complexion enormously by
exfoliating and sloughing off the old, dead skin cells.
If the old skin cells are not removed, your skin may look
dull and lifeless or the dead skin cells could clog the
sebaceous pores leading to superficial spots or blackheads.
Exfoliation should also be an important part
of your weekly skincare program as you get older because as
we age, the process of cell turnover slows down. Cells
start to pile up unevenly on the skin's surface, giving it a
dry, rough, dull appearance. Exfoliation is beneficial
because it removes those cells that are clinging on,
revealing the fresher, younger skin cells below.
How Do I Exfoliate?
You can use salt scrubs either in the bath or shower.
Simply scoop some out into your hands and massage into the
skin in a circular motion paying particular attention to
areas of rough or dry skin. Once you're done, simply
rinse off the salts and wash your body as normal.
To maximise the benefits of exfoliation, we recommend
that you apply a good quality moisturiser all over your body
after your bath or shower. Exfoliating can leave your
skin feeling quite dry and it is important to re-hydrate
your skin as soon as possible - your freshly exfoliated skin
will be more receptive to moisturiser so it will be absorbed
deeper into the tissue, giving you a more youthful and
radiant appearance.
